Take part

Host a research visit

The single most useful thing an organization can do for this research. A day, sometimes two, showing how your system really works, including the parts that do not.

What we ask for

  • Access to a site, or time with someone who runs the system
  • An honest account, including what has not worked
  • Permission to record, on your terms

What we do not ask for

  • Money
  • Confidential commercial information
  • A favourable write-up

Enough for us to understand who you are and what you run.

What you work on

Step 3

What you work on

The part we most want to understand. Plain description is more useful than a polished one.

What does your organization actually do? Which waste streams, which part of the chain?

A sorting line, a collection round, a waste bank, a landfill, a policy team. Anything where the system is visible.

What a visit could include

Step 4

What a visit could include

Tick only what is genuinely possible. Declining any of these does not affect whether we would like to visit.

Rough is fine.

Logistics, entirely optional

Step 5

Logistics, entirely optional

Circular Journey is two founders travelling on their own funds. Some institutions have guest accommodation or transport for visiting researchers as a matter of course, and if yours does we would be grateful to know. If not, please leave all of this blank. It makes no difference to whether we would like to visit, and none of it is ever published. If you would rather host us yourself, at home, use Host us at your home.

Privacy and permissions

Step 7

Privacy and permissions

Each permission below is separate and optional. Leaving any of them unticked has no effect on whether we would like to visit.

Why we ask. Your organisation, contact details and what you do let us reply and judge whether a visit would answer a research question. The visit and permission questions tell us what is possible before we travel. The logistics questions exist only so that nothing is assumed.

Who sees it. Only the founders. Logistics answers, your phone number and your notes are never published. Nothing is shared with any other organisation.

How long. Applications are deleted 36 months after you send them, long enough to plan a visit, carry it out and write it up.

Details are in the Privacy Policy and the Research, Interview and Media Notice.

You will get a reference number immediately.
