1. What belongs to Circular Journey
The original text, research, Atlas entries, reports, analysis, photographs, films, illustrations and design on this website are created by Circular Journey and belong to it, except where a page credits someone else. The Circular Journey name and logo are ours and identify the initiative.
2. How you may reuse it
You may quote, share and republish our text and research for any non-commercial purpose — teaching, research, journalism, policy work, advocacy — provided that you:
- credit Circular Journey and link to the page you used;
- do not change the meaning of what you quote, or present an evidence label as stronger than it is;
- do not suggest that Circular Journey endorses you, your organisation or your use.
For commercial use, for our photographs and films, or to use the name or logo, please ask first at [email protected]. We usually say yes.
3. Material that belongs to others
Some material on this website belongs to someone else: figures and extracts from the sources we cite, the names and logos of organisations we write about, and photographs or words contributed by the people we interview. We use it with credit, under permission or where the law allows quotation for research, criticism and reporting.
We do not claim ownership of any of it, and our reuse terms above do not cover it. To reuse it, go to its owner; the credit on the page tells you who that is.
4. What you send us
Anything you send us — a message, an application, a photograph, a document, a case study, a correction, an interview — remains yours. We do not take ownership of it.
Sending it lets us use it for the purpose you sent it for: to reply, to consider a visit, to check a fact. We publish something you contributed only with your specific permission to publish it, and credit you as you choose. If you give that permission, you also confirm that the material is yours to share, or that you have the owner’s agreement, and that it does not include anyone else’s private information without their consent.
You can withdraw a permission to publish at any time through Your Privacy Rights.
5. Guidelines for contributors
Researchers, translators, experts and volunteers who contribute to Circular Journey are asked to keep to the same standards as the research itself:
- State facts with their source, and label opinion and observation as such.
- Never invent a figure, a quotation or a relationship with an organisation.
- Respect the permissions people have given, and ask when unsure.
- Keep private information private, including information learned during a visit.
- Treat every person and community with respect, whatever their role in the system being studied.
- Contributing does not make you a representative or spokesperson of Circular Journey, and you are credited by name only if you want to be.
We review anything contributed before it is published, and may decline, edit for clarity or remove it. We do not publish material that is unlawful, defamatory, discriminatory, misleading, or that infringes someone else’s rights.
6. If you think we have used your work wrongly
Tell us at [email protected], with the page, the material and why you believe it is yours. We look at every notice promptly, remove or correct the material where we are wrong, and tell you what we have done.
